Interview with Mary Finley, 18 June 2008.
Mary's son Reginald V. Finley Sr interviews Mary Finley on June 18th, 2008. We discuss her upbringing and her view of her parents. She also shares with us some memories of her Grandmother. Dr. Mary Alice Person Lasaine.
Addition: Mary Frances shared with me off-air that she remembers "Daddy" being admitted to a nursing home where she worked as a bookkeeper. The director recognized the name and asked her if she knew him. "Oh no, daddy." She knew that Thomas' new wife was bringing him and Dovie didn't like her. The administration allowed her to "hide" until he was processed. Mary remembers talking to him regularly but he never recognized his daughter. A stroke placed him back to 1957, Mary was still a little girl to him. The costs of admittance to this nursing home were eventually too much for Dovie to bear so she moved him to a Nursing home in Orange county Florida were he died in 1972.
