Was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II
Lyman Excell collier Sr., 71, 462 E. 38th St., died Thursday, Nov 9, 1995, at St. Vincent Health Center.
He was born in Memphis, Tenn., Feb 5, 1924, son of the late Marvin Reed and Mamie Dismukes Collier.
Mr. Collier was a resident of Erie for 51 years; was a retired bricklayer and a member of International Union of BAC, Local 9 Pa.,and had also been a self-employed masonry worker; and was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Rosa Lee Watkins Collier; two sons, Lyman Excell Collier Jr. and Ronald Collier; and two brothers, Raymond and Charles Billings.
Survivors include two sons, Elder Christopher C. Collier of Erie and Wendell Collier of Chicago; four daughters, Mrs. Vivian (Barbara) Beason and Rosalind McCullum, both of Erie, Mrs. Robert (Jacqueline) Carter of Austin, Texas, and Beverly Collier of Cleveland, Ohio; two sisters, Catherine Estells of Chicago and Ann Crawford of Erie; 19 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends may call at Law Funeral Home, 1861 Buffalo Road, Monday from 7 to 9p.m., and Tuesday from 11a.m. to the time of a service there at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Dwane Brock officiating.
Burial will be at Erie Cemetery.
