NATCHEZ - Services for Jessie Beatrice Gaylor, of Natchez, who died Monday, Oct. 4, 2004 in Jackson, will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Zion Chapel A.M.E. Church with the Rev. A. R. Brown officiating.

Burial will be in Pine Hill Memorial Cemetery under the direction of George F. West Funeral Home.

Visitation is from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home and from noon until service time Saturday at the church.

Mrs. Gaylor was born Aug. 7, 1929, in Adams County, the daughter of the late Samuel Bland and Justine Bland Rice.

She accepted Christ at an early age and joined St. Paul A.M.E. Church where she served faithfully. She later united with Zion Chapel A.M.E. Church and was also an active and faithful member. She served as steward, former president of the Youth Choir, officer of the district of A.M.E. churches, Class Leader, YPD Leader, Sunday School member, choir member, and as a member of the M.B.P.F.B. Society and the A.M. Poor Fund Society.

She was educated in the Adams County School District and was former secretary of Gaylor's Auto Repair Service.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Patricia A. Gaylor Harvey; her parents; two brothers, Curtis Bland and Jerry L. Rice; and two sisters, Georgia Myles and Hazel Nix.

Survivors include her husband of 58 years, Adolph Gaylor; three sons, Adolph D. "Don" (Margaret) Gaylor of Fairfield, Ala., Tylan O. Gaylor of Canton, and Tony R. (Kristena) Gaylor of Jackson; daughter, Genoise G. (Willie) Washington of Columbia, S.C.; three sisters, Vivian Wallace, Neotha Snyder, and Johnetta Foster, all of Natchez; two brothers, Samuel Bland of Natchez and Willie (Polly) Rice of Jackson; eight grandchildren, Malcolm (Haygar) Harvey and Marques Harvey, both of Atlanta, Ga., Adrienne D. Gaylor of Silver Springs, Md., Willie "Torry" Washington, Gerard (Cindy) Washington, Chad A. Washington, Kimberly Washington, all of Columbia, S.C., and Samuel L. Gaylor of Jackson; great-grandchildren Matthew and Brandon Harvey, both of Atlanta, Ga., and Zachary Washington of Columbia S.C.; son-in-law, Percy Lee Harvey; three sisters-in-law, Edna (W.J.) Watkins of Memphis, Tenn., Eloise (Leonard) Bennett of Cleveland, Ohio, and Doris (James) Armstrong of Nashville, Tenn., two brothers-in-law, Walter W. Gaylor Sr. of Natchez and Lee A. (Vivian) Gaylor of Bellevue, Wash.; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Pallbearers will be Flynn Wallace, Gary Wallace, Willie Foster Jr., Albert Gaylor, Walter Gaylor Jr., and Mike Wallace.
