  • Notes
    • In 1918, Hezekiah Billings, like many young black men, worked for Tennessee Coal and Rail Road. (T.C.R.R.). He married Annie May at a very young age and they divorced shortly after WWI. Hezekiah returned to Mississii after the War and met Katie Keyes, a private cook. Katie became pregnant and died at childbirth delivering Rosa Bertha Billings. Hezekiah with the help of his sister Bertha tried to take care of Rosa as an infant. Hezekiah's parents offered to take Rosa in and raise her while Hezekiah worked the Railroad. Hezekiah later meet Mamie Dell in Tennessee. Hezekiah worked many odd jobs after leaving the Railroad and by the 1940's, he was working for the "GoldSmith Smelting Company".
